About The Project
Welcome to the Climb Project
The climb-project is a specialist SEND approach for young people with an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) that provides young people with a simultaneous Special & Mainstream School learning route.
Young people within the climb-project receive the intensive specialist support as you would expect in any quality Special School provision, whilst at the same time offering the young people the teaching approaches, peer integration and expansive curriculum associated with the mainstream primary experience. All young people, regardless of need, follow an individualised learning route that is specifically designed to meet the young persons needs based on the outcomes of their EHCP.
The initial phase of the climb-project is based at Wheatley Hill, Durham and operates between Wheatley Hill Primary School and the Specialist Provision at the Wheatley Hill Greenhills Centre.
A young person working within the climb-project will have access to: Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapist, Educational Psychologist, Outdoor Education, Forest School, PECS, Makaton, Pastoral Support, Hydrotherapy and many more learning & support mechanisms.
